Right at the Centre

A current advert for The Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham states

Christmas is more Christmasey, when you're right at the centre.

I beg to differ.

Outside The Box

Lights around Radford Semele overlooking the Canal

Feeling glum, stuck in your little man-made box? Perhaps it's time to get out into the big God-made world. Even if it's 8:30 at night, you'll feel better. No longer bored and cooped up, but filled with thankfulness, joy and freedom.

Decisions

Just thinking how our decisions can in some cases make us miss out on things. Sometimes they are trivial seeming things that you miss out on, and yet these things may be more important than we realise. Then again, if we made the other decision we miss out on something else completely different and just as important. We only have a finite time in our week, so we will always miss something. Perhaps time to accept that, and to just hope that I'm missing out on the right things by making the right decisions.

From a form to an essay

Our small groups are grouping into clusters. So people know who we are, we've been asked to fill in a form with a bit about ourselves. My initial problem with this was the fear that I would have no idea where to start. Having actually filled it out, discovered the real problem is that without a great deal of care, your form will turn into a huge essay. I'm only glad that I haven't gone onto continuation sheets.

"Sorry I'm late. Traffic was terrible over Paris."

According to this article there are an ever increasing number of international commuters. It seems with all the telecomuting possiblities nowadays, coupled with flexitime, it realy is possible to live in Spain and work in London. And it is true that this may not be much different timewise to some people I know who commute within the UK.

However, while the odd commute may be OK, still, I don't think I'm quite up for that. I like to have a life that can continue in the week, rather than this schizoprenic lifestyle in two cities.

Questions

Heard an interesting quote on a DVD, which I think might be liked by another blogger round these parts (although he might not like the source).

We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions.

Time for Warmth...

I have a random feeling that everything should be warm now. So I will dreamilly in semi-tired state blog here. If you don't already have it, get your duvet, and wrap it round you. Put on some warm music - happy or sad is ok, but must be warm, rich sounding music. Let things be like that, and maybe chat to people in a warm way. Sorry, this is really random, but hey, what are blogs for!

Crash

No, I haven't crashed the car - it's a film, and I saw it last night.

Really blurs the line between good and evil. Makes statements about racial hatred, guns, and judging people, only knowing part of them. It documents how people are. It starts with some very loose threads, and brings some of them together as it progresses. You will judge the characters in your own mind - just as characters judge each other, but at the end, you have to realise that in some way you were wrong - you didn't have the whole story

Makes you think about things a bit. Do we judge everyone around us like this? Are we any better than these people? If you haven't seen it, go see it. Get those thoughts provoked...
